Astros - MLB predictions 2013

The Houston Astros begin their first season as a member of the American League West after fifty years in the National League. The AL West has some better teams in it than the NL Central where the Astros had 100 losses plus (106, 107) in back-to-back seasons which is why most everyone thinks they could lose that many or more this season. It won't be easy but I believe the Astros will avoid losing 100 games this season.

Astros projected line-up on Opening Day:
1. 2B Jose Altuve
2. 1B Brett Wallace
3. LF Chris Carter
4. DH Carlos Pena
5. CF Justin Maxwell
6. RF Rick Ankiel
7. 3B Matt Dominguez
8. C Jason Castro
9. SS Ronny Cedeno
SP. Bud Norris

Closer: Jose Veras
Manager: Bo Porter - 1st season

Rockets host Jazz in battle for playoff positioning

The Houston Rockets host the Utah Jazz tonight as both teams are battling for a playoff spot. The Rockets come in 36-31 in the seventh spot in the Western Conference while the Jazz are 34-33 in the ninth one game back of the Lakers for eighth and two games back of the Rockets.

Jazz have lost nine of their last twelve games coming into tonight and will play San Antonio on Friday and Dallas on Sunday. Utah is just 10-24 on the road this season and have lost six straight road games and nine of the last ten on the road.

The Jazz are led by Al Jefferson who averages 17.3 points and 9.1 rebounds a game and are coming off a 90-83 home loss to the Knicks on Monday.

The Rockets are coming off a 108-78 loss at home to the Warriors on Sunday. The Rockets have been inconsistent lately despite having a favorable schedule the rest of the season.

The Rockets are led by James Harden who averages 26.3 points and scored 25 points the last time the Rockets faced the Jazz as the Rockets cruised to a 125-80 victory in Utah back in January.
